SANDERS CUP CONTESTS

AN OWNER'S COMPLAINT [Per United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, January 27. In the opinion of Mr W. H. Wagstaff, owner of the ex-champion' Sanders flap yacht Betty, the position of tho Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association in more or less controlling the affairs of the Sanders Gup contests is far from satisfactory, it is provided that the ■ rules shall not be altered otherwise than by the Auckland Yachb and Motor Boat Association, and on the recommendation of a dominion conference. “ It will never bo .satisfactory until the control is taken from the Auckland Association and given to a dominion body. The Auckland delegates always have a final say,” Mr Wagstaff said at last night’s meeting of the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor Boat Association.

The Chairman (Mr 0. A. Holier) said that until a dominion controlling body was established it was necessary that Auckland should have control. The position at present was that if nothing were done in the future for the, contest then would be the time for yachtsmen to go further and get the control' shifted. A dominion conference had' just decided that all the Sanders Cup boats should be measured before each contest. One thing at a time was enough. At the last conference the Auckland delegates had given their' assurance very candidly that they would carry through the matters decided. . If they failed then was the time to take control. “I do not think there is very; much to wbrry about,” Mr Moller saity “ because if we find the new arrangement does not work we can bring forward another remit at the next conference and get the contest still more watertight in due course. It has already been a big thing to have got the measuring of the boats approved.”
