COMMERCIAL SCIENCE EXAMINATIONS
JUNIOR SECTION RESULTS The results of the first annual examination for certificates in commercial science, under the auspices of the Association of Commercial Science, are now announced. The 1931 examinations were limited to the junior sections, and were held during December in Dunedin, Christchurch, and Invercargill. The association junior certificate may be gained in any one of several groups of subjects, each group consisting of five subjects. Each subject passed is credited towards the completion of a group, a certificate not being available in any individual subject. It is the aim of the association to encourage a broad course of study, rather than a narrow specialisation in one subject only. English' (4), arithmetic (1), and principles of commerce (6), are subjects to all groups, ,the additional subjects in each group being as follows: Salesmanship group—Salesmanship and advertising (7) and commercial art (3); book-keepers’ group—book-keeping (2) and typewriting (9), or geography (5) or commercial art (3): shorthandtypists group—shorthand (8) and typewriting (9); printing trade group—typography and advertising (10) and commercial art (3).
