SENSATIONAL ALLEGATIONS
GERMANY PREPARING POWERFUL ARMY FRENCH ACCUSATIONS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, January 21. Sensational allegations that Germany was preparing a powerful army, contrary to the Versailles Treaty, were made by General Bourgeois before the Chamber’s Foreign Affairs Committee. Ho also dc * red that Germany was organising industry and -armaments on parallel lines, which would enable extremely rapid mobilisation in case of need. Slio was also actively inculcating a spirit of revenge among school children.
Senator Eccard declared that Gorman military expenditure was disguised, being far greater than was shown in the Budget. Germany was simultaneously doing her utmost to persuade the world that, whereas she had disarmed, France was arming to the teeth.
The revelations profoundly impressed the committee, and are likely still further to stiffen France’s attitude at the Disarmament Conference.
