SUCCESSFUL EVENING MEETING There was a largo attendance of sporting enthusiasts at the first evening sports meeting of the year conducted by the Otago Centre of New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, held at Tahuna Park last evening. The programme included running, cycling, and shot putting, and' the various events wore disposed of expeditiously. Despite the strong wind, the racing was keen, and some excellent contests ensued. Results:— 75 Yards Handicap.—First heat: A. M’Corkindale (54 yds) 1, K. Miller (scr) 2, J. Robilliard (scr) 3; won by inches; time, 9sec. Second heat: 11. W. Masked (scr) 1, W. Smith (scr) 2, F. B. _ Stanton (sJyds) 3; won by a foot; time, 9sec. Third heat: P. G. Ward (3yds) 1, A. B. Thomson (scr) 2, Bain 3; won by a yard; time, 9sec. —Final.— M'Corkindale 1 Masked 2 Ward 3 Won by a foot, inches separating second and third. Time, 9sec. Half-mile Cycle Handicap.—First heat: J. Fogarty (scr) 1, A. Oakes (40yds) 2, H. Cooper (35yds) 3; won by three lengths; time, train 30sec. Second heat: J. Brosnan (45yds) 1, G. Smith (scr) 2, E. Palmer (25yds) 3; won by three lengths, one and a-half lengths separating second and third; time, Imin 28 l-sscc. Third heat: F. Greenfield (45yds) 1, G. Milligan (45yds) 2, B. Wilson-Pyne (20yds) 3; yoii by two lengths, a similar distance

Fletcher (60yds) 3; six started j won by five lengths; 20yds separating second'and third; time,6min 42sec. Second heat: G. Smith (scr) 1, J. Fogarty (scr) 2, F. Greenfield (180vds) 3. The two scratch men caught the field on the last lap, Smith going on to win an excellent race by a bare length, Fogarty being 20yds ahead of Greenfield. Time, 6min 40sec. —Final.— Oakes ... I Fogarty ... 2 Smith 3 Oakes rode a splendid race, stalling off a challenge by the scratch men to win by five lengths, two lengths separating Fogarty and Smith. Time, 6min INTERCLUB RELAY.
