SCOPE FOR EMPLOYMENT.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —As wo are in such times of stress regarding unemployment why do not the Iloslyn and Kaikorai ratepayers get a move on and get the street formed making a continuation of Nairn street through Shetland street into Fairfax street? This would provide work for the unemployed, and also make a fine street both for pedestrians and vehicles, whereas now the public have to walk up Shetland street’ and over Highgate to go either to the Kaikorai football' grounds or over to any part of ’ Bishopscourt. Also, the ground at the back of houses in Shetland street would make fine building sections, thereby finding employment for carpenters, plumbers, etc. So it is up to the Kaikorai and Iloslyn people to wake up and find work for • their unemployed.—l am, etc., Help the Unemployed. January 21. ' '

Sir, —Just a few lines of your valuable paper with reference to a grievance of us Kaikorai residents concerning tho continuance of Nairn street through the old golf links, past the Kaikorai football ground and linking up with Fairfax street. It would make a good deal of work for the unemployed and bo a boon to us residents. At the present time wo have to go up over the hill in Oban'.street and come round in half a circle if we wish to sec a cricket or lootball match, or take the alternative of crossing tho paddock occupied by a fine fat bull. Hoping something will be done soon, —I am, etc., Hesidext. January 21,
