Hr J. Hutchison left for Wellington by this morning’s second express. The Education Board to-day reelected Mr W. R. Brugh and the Hon. D. T. Fleming as their representatives oil the Otago High Schools’ Board of Governors. Cr C. H. Hayward, while in Cumberland street at 1.45 this afternoon, collapsed as the result of a heart attack, and "was immediately taken to the hospital.
Advice received from Melbourne states that, following bn the retirement of Mr J. Newman Barker, through ill health, from the directorate of the National Bank of Australasia Air Hugh Murray Strachan has accepted the vice-chairmanship until the end of Mr Barker’s term in May next.—Wellington Press Association telegram. At last night’s meeting of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association the President' (Air E. L. Macassey) mentioned that Mr P. W. Breen had been appointed a selector of the New Zealand team for the Olympic Games, and he moved that the centre’s congratulations be tendered to Mr Breen. It was a great honour for Air Breen and for Otago. ; The motion was carried. The Rev. D. D. and Mrs AlacLachlan and family are spending their vacation at Brighton.
