MILES OF LAND SUBMERGED SEVERAL TOWNS ISOLATED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, January 20. (Received January 20, at 9.10 a.m.) The North Queensl nd floods reached the highest level for eighteen years. Miles of sugar cane land is submerged. Cairns is isolated, except by sea. Business is at a standstill there, also at Townville r.nd Innisfail. A girl was drowned near Innisfail. Boats are plying at the latter place. The rain as now ceased, but cyclonic conditions prevail. High winds are ravaging the whole northern coast, and are working down to New South Wales. STRANGE SCENES AT FUNERAL SYDNEY, January 20. (Received January 20, dt 11 a.m.) There were strange scenes at a funeral at Innisfail, when the cofiin was taken as far as possible by motor lorry, then transferred to a flat-bottomed boat, which men walking in water up to their armpits propelled towards the cemetery..
