MODERN FILM FOR STRAND A father who loy.es the son he never saw, and a boy who hates the father he never knew are the roles portrayed by Thomas’ Meighan and Hardie Albright in ‘ Skyline,’ the Fox movietone which comes to the Strand on Friday. Meighan is, of course, the father, and in a smashing climax reveals himself to his son, Albright, who, with Maureen O’Sullivan, furnishes the love interest in ‘this story of modern life in a great city. Hymn, Loy is featured with these three in a characteristic part, as is Donald Dillaway. A cast of popular favourites supports this quintet of stars, included in the ensemble being Stanley Fields and Jack Kennedy. ‘ Skyline ’ tells the story of a friendless youth who is bitterly prejudiced against his father, who deserted the boy’s unmarried mother. Later he is befriended by a wealth contractor and engineer, who, in the end, is revealed as his father. Following this, discovery, the hoy denounces his father for his early conduct, but when he realises he is not without sin himself, having gone perilously near tho danger line with a girl, he becomes tolerant, and realises that he is, after all, no better than his father. The picture was directed by Sam Taylor, and before production of ‘ Skyline ’ was started at the Fox Beverly Hills studio, ho spent three weeks in New York shooting scenes for it. They are said to bo rare and amazing examples of photographic art.
