The plough and course proper were both in. fast order, and were iri use. The work, unless otherwise mentioned, was on the plough. Red Sun finished nearly a length in front of Normandy at the end of six furlongs in Imin 16sec, the last half in 51 2-ssec. • Weatherstep had opened a break of six lengths on Moab Queen before the close of their five furlongs in Imin 3 l-ssec, the last half in 49 4-ssec. , On the course proper Tea Stream ran a half nicely in 48 4-ssec. Over the same course Michael Angelo, after a slow beginning, registered 50sec. Prince Pombal and Volga Boatman followed, the former coming home in front in the excellent time of 47 4-ssec, Lady Pam and Spear Lad finished their work with half a mile in 49 4-ssec. Foghorn beat Cape Town by halt a lengtn over six furlongs in Imin 16 3-ssec, the last half in 51sec. Kilstar was doing his best to lead Marjoram home by two lengths at the end of five furlongs in Imin ssec, the last half in 51 4-ssec. v Arisus sprinted a half-mile alone in 50 l-ssec, and stretched out attractively. Princess Argosy heat her stablemate Royal Limond nicely by a neck at the end of half a mile in 49 3-ssec.

Might surprised by finishing two lengths in front of Clangor at the end of three furlongs in 36sec. Mentor was a lot too good for Colossical over the tame journey in 37sec. c , Cadland, Arena, Silvernfiine, Arvada, and Gaine Carrington did pace work only, but all look well. Gold Sand sprinted five furlongs, being timed to run the last half in 49sec. High Comedy ran an easy half in 50 l-ssec, but was never doing his best. Pahu shaded Alpinist at the end of six furlongs in Imm 16 l-ssec, the last half in oOsec. Late Jest beat Cockpen by a length over a half-mile in 50sec. St. Roger caught and beat Waratah home narrowly at the close of five furlongs in Imin 3 l'-ssec, the last half in 50 2-ssec. Equitant and Interlocutor recorded a smart effort in reeling off a half in 48 2-ssec. Gesture easily ran six furlongs alone in Imin 20sec. On the course proper Chief Cook, Chief Clerk, and In Vain were separated by lengths at the end of five furlongs in Imin 2scc, the last half in 49 2-ssec. Chief Cook went particularly -well. Moa Bird did an easy seven furlongs in Imin 32 4-ssec. Heremia was held back to finish on terms with Ganpat, at the dose of five furlongs in Imin 3sec, the last half in 50scc. Dainty Ways and Joie do Val were together throughout seven furlongs in Imin 29 4-sscc, the last half in 52 4- :

All Humbug did the last half of five furlongs in 51 l-ssec. Gay Court pulled up slightly lame after doing a half in 52 3-ssec. , Autopay and Solitaire 11., from a standing start, ran a half up the hack in 49 4-ssec, and did it exceptionally well. Retract worked better than usual in doing six furlongs in Imin 18 l-ssec. _ The only scratching yet announced is Jenny Diver in the Ruapehu Handicap. Rippling AVaters and Bambury have been withdrawn from the stakes.
