A white horse on the hills in Wiltshire, in England, is 180 ft long. The figure was made by removing the earth to show the white, chalky subsoil beneath. It is supposed to commemorate a victory of Alfred the Great over invading Danes in 879. t Guayaquil, in Ecuador (South America), will have a “sun ” dial that will toll the time at night. The light will come from a huge searchlight which will revolve once every twelve hours, illuminating various landmarks at the game time every night*
