WASHING TIPS
Lace curtains are best washed in warm water with soap jelly after soaking in warm ammonia water. Soak in clear water before starching. Cretonne requires careful washing, as there is danger of the colours running. Allow’ a handful of bran, instead of soap, to a gallon of water. When washing curtains it is a good plan to tack the top and bottom edges together. They are thus more likely to keep in shape. After washing, stretch each curtain on two rods, and they will dry easily and will not need ironing.
