LAWN TENNIS. THE CHRISTCHURCH TOURNAMENT. CHRISTCHURCH, January 9. The lawn tennis tournament was resumed to-day. The weather was overcast, and the courts were inclined to bo slow after rain. Results; — WOMEN'S DOUBLES. —Semi-finals.— Misses M. Wake and M. Andrew beat Misses M. Gibson and B. Gould, 6-4, 7-5. Misses U. Valkenburg and J. Hartigan (N.S.W.) beat Mrs Dykes and Miss D. Nicholls (Wellington), 4-6, 6-0, 6-1. COMBINED DOUBLES. —Semi-finals.— Miss N, Hall and J. H. W. Sheppard heat Mi’s Scott and B. B. Loughnan, 6-0, 6-3. CROQUET. SOUTH ISLAND TOURNAMENT. [Per United Press Association.] TIMARU, January 9. Dull conditions were experienced today for the continuation of the South Island croquet championships. Results : LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. Mrs Corbet beat Mrs Telfer, 26-8. HANDICAP SINGLES. Mrs Corbet beat Hart, 26-22. HANDICAP DOUBLES. Mrs Corbet and Mrs MacDonald beat Hart and Miss Morgan, 26-8.
