SPEEDWAY ATTRACTIONS

To-morrow night will mark the pro-* sentation of real gala fare at the Speedway Royle, and in view of the fine racing and splendid management that has been the feature of meetings this season, it requires only a fine night for large crowds to be attracted to the stadium. A well varied and most interesting programme has been arranged,; and the big event of the night will be the Flying Three international Points’'. Race, in which the starters will be W.Hull (England) and Tommy Tompkins (Brisbane) and Laurie Packer (Adelaide). Hull has been riding spectacularly and' with considerable success at the Monica Park _ Speedway in Christchurch, and in view of the fact that Packer and Tompkins also rode well at Christchurch last Saturday, the meeting of this trio of stars should witness the recording of fast times, and if the track is dry, the mile record may even go by the board. Another big attraction will be the intertrack contest between Dunedin and Christchurch Speedways’ teams. Otago will be represented by the improved Jim Nesbit and Peter, Lyders, and Canterbury by_ Shorty, Wicks and Eric Pyke. Wicks is a daring broadsider, a capable man on the corners, and by his riding last week stamped himself as a performer of class* The local boys will be out to turn the ' tables on this occasion, and some very/ keen competition may be anticipated.. These two match events will be from rolling starts, but they do not constitute the whole of the fine attractions to be offered. The international and interprovincial representatives will all! bo seen in action _ in two open handicap events in which they will be opposed by the best of the local stars, and jf recent meetings are any criterion* there should be some exceptionally good finishes. Full particulars as to prices are advertised in this issue.
