lantyne would be received. After some argument it was resolved that six other speakers be appointed, three of these being women. Shortly before 3 o'clock the deputation withdrew and announced that, although the board said it could not
give sustenance to everybody, it was prepared to investigate necessitous cases and give relief individually, a start to he made this afternoon.
