Pigs.—There was a small yarding of pigs, and a dull sale resulted. Bacon pigs sold up to £3 ss, which is equal to about 4|d lb, and porkers sold to £2 ss, and touched Cd lb. Fat Sheep.—The yarding so far as quality was concerned was the worst seen for a long time. One truck of extra good wethers came from Messrs Smaill Bros., Moa Plat, and sold up to 25s 9d. The rest of the wethers were light and inferior, and gained between 18s and 225, showing an advance of about 2s Cd a head on the previous sale’s prices. Light and aged ewes changed hands for prices ranging from 10s to 12s, which were x equal to those of the last sale. Prime wethers were worth 3|d lb, and plain sorts 3id, while extra heavy ewes were 2|d. One or two extra heavy ewes touched 3d lb, while old ewes were worth between IJd to 2d. _ Fat Lambs.—Nearly everything in the fat lambs’ yarding was of choice quality. The presence of four export buyers was the reason for the opening prices being equal to 5d lb. The best values were for several pens which sold up to 15s. Very light quality sold from 12s to 13s. It was quite expected that the exporters would keep the sale steady all through.
