Some interesting work was recorded on the Invercargill tracks this morning when the final gallops for the Southland Meeting took place on the course, the flags being out about 40ft from the rails. The going was first rate, and several smart gallops were recorded. The Cup candidate, Red Sea, performed excellently. Dulen finished better than Colonel Cygnus over four furlongs in 50 4-ssec. Red Sea beat Cough over seven furlongs in Imin 31sec. The former has been working impressively. Trek finished better than Jack a Dandy and Some Queen over four furlongs in n'lsec. Trek did her work well. King Balboa ran five furlongs in Imin 5 2-ssec; Night Rose seven furlongs m Imin 36 3-ssec. Red Sunset ran the best half-mile of the morning, doing it in 49 4-sscc. Fainveathcr pleased better than Consono over six furlongs in Imin 18 l-ssec. _ Royal Sceptre ran four furlongs easily in 53 l-sscc. The best effort over five furlongs was Tippling’s —lmin 2 3-ssec, a brilliant effort. Greenaway beat Glenham Lark over four furlongs in 50sec. Ruling Light and Irish Chieftain ran three furlongs in 40sec on the plough. Water Power ran the mile in Imin 49 4-ssec, the last four in 52sec. Royal Liraond did a strong round, and looks fit.
