A RESPONSIBLE POST
PERSONALITY COUNTS Many women whoso ambition it is to hold a responsible post, such as confidential secretary, spend endless hours in studying special subjects in order to improve their qualifications, but overlook the fact that without an attractive personality such posts are for the most part unattainable. In the first place, dress is of no 'small importance, since it outwardly expresses tho individual. It should show dignity worthy of a position of trust and certainly consideration for the chief. Men always delight in the neat tailored women, _ therefore smart simplicity, even verging on severity, should be tho rule. Vivid reds and yellows are best kept for the sports ground, but restful greys, blues, and beige are far more inducive to work. Then it is wise to remember that an enormous amount of good or evil can result from the tone of tho voice. Not all of ua have pleasant voices, but a little care not to speak too loudly, to guard against a monotonous drawl, or inarticulate enunciation would greatly improve many an uninteresting voice. There is nothing looks worse than to see an otherwise attractive girl slouching about, and a firm and easy carriage is a great asset. There is, too, an art of sitting, and it is possible to strike a happy medium between the stiff uprightness of a Victorian dame and the flopping and lolling of the proverbial flapper.
