Y.M.C.A. BOYS' DIVISION

[By Observer.] In fine weather more than lift# young campers set out for Whare Flat.Camp Tahora is well-known for the many happy camps which have been.' held there. The camp this year pro* mises to be. as successful in every way, as those which have gone before. The enrolment for the first two weeks is completely booked up, and the last three weeks promise to he no less full.; The swimming pools are in excellent condition, though the lack of rain has caused a slight decrease in the amount of water in the creek. However, the water has been -sufficiently warm to. allow of a daily swim. The cricket pitch has been rolled out,, with the result that it is possible to enjoy, a good game at any time. Practice nets have also been set up,, so that one can practise when a game is not in! progress. The chief sports attraction at present is hockey. Though played with primitive equipment, little of the ex* citement is lost, the fact that only one stroke in three connects adding to, ; rather than detracting from, the pleasure of the game. Campers are fortunate this year in' having a stove in the dining hall, round which they can sit on a rainy day and read, write, or play games.. The risk' of a camper catching cold is thus re* duced to a minimum, and, with thb good cooking, there should be no cases of sickness in the camp. A full programme lies ahead for the remainder of the week. AH those in’ camp are looking forward to a very bright New Year.
