PALMER BEATS THORNTON [Per United Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., December 28. Ambrose Palmer obtained a points decision against Bob Thornton in a fif-teen-round contest to-night. Palmer did most of the leading, and showed cleaner hitting, though Thornton gave a good account of himself.
HEAVY-WEIGHT TITLE
NEW YORK, December 27. Max Schmelling will defend the heavy-weight title against Mickey Walker at Miami, Florida, in the last week of February, under the auspices of the Madison Square Garden Corporation. The articles will be signed on. Tuesday or Wednesday. Joe Jacobs, Schmolling’s manager, announced that he also hopes to arrange another bout in defence of the title in June or September against either Dempsey or Sharkey.
