THEFT OF BENZINE
THREE MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT Hoyden Victor Curlius was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for the theft of two cases of benzine in the Police Court this morning by Messrs A. B. Sullivan and T. D. B. Paterson, Justices of the Peace. Inspector Cummings stated thatCurlins was a single man, t - .» enty-nino years of age, and was a relief worker. He was coming from Christchurch, and while passing through Hampden on Saturday evening saw two cases of benzine inside a farmer’s gate. He put ten gallons of the spirit into his car, the other six being found in the back. The accused had a bad criminal record. A first offender was fined 20s for drunkenness, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment.
