THE POPE'S APPEAL

ROME, December 26. A papal encyclical entitled Lux Veritatis, which was _ broadcast from the Vatican radio station, urged unification of the Protestant and Eastern orthodox churches with the Roman Catholic Church under the Papacy, The Pope called for unity in all Christendom in order that the present-day immorality and upbelief might bo combated. A now Mass,' to he called the Maternity of Mary, is to be established for the church as a lasting commemoration of this year’s celebration of the anniversary of Ephesus. Addressing himself to Protestants and Eastern Catholics, the Pontiff said: “ Wo arc confident that they arc becoming convinced by history and will bo able to feel- at least a longing for one fold under ono Shepherd, and for a return to that true faith which is jealously conserved, ever secure, and inviolate in the Reman Church.’i
