BROADSIDING TO-NIGHT
There will be first-class entertainment at the Speedway Roylc to-night for those who are spending the holidays in Dunedin. The management has decided to present a carnival programme, and there will be no fewer than seventeen broadsiding events, the biggest attraction of which will bo the Four Points’ Match, in which the four Australians —Tommy Tompkins, Laurie Packer, Frank Elms, and Cliff Bysonth—will compete. Tompkins and Packer have both gone close to the track record for the mile, and Bysouth and Elmes, who come here with big reputations, have also registered startling times in Australia. There is keen but friendly rivalry between the visitors, and neither Tompkins nor Packer will have an easy task to keep Elmes and Bysouth out of the premier places. In twq open handicap events, the Australians will be opposed by the best of the local men, including'Lionel Homer, Peter Lyders, Jack Young, and Jim Nesbit, and other local favourites will be seen in action in a special local handicap. An attempt to establish a mile track record in a light racing car will be made by Mr Ernest Coxhead, and three whippet races will be decided over hurdles. Full particulars of the meeting are advertised.
