THE COMPETITION
Here are two small puzzles that will make the usual competition for this week. One is a puzzle in arithmetic, the other a word changing one. The winner will receive the usual two shillings and sixpence prize, and your solutions are to bo sent to Big Brother Bill, care ‘ Evening Star,’ Stuart street, Dunedin. Mark your envelopes, “ Competition.” THE MIXED MABKET BASKET. A poultry farmer who also kept rabbits took some into market. “ What have you got to-day?” asked the merchant. “ I have in my motor lorry outside 04 heads and 184 legs,” laughed tho farmer. “ Now tell me how many rabbits and how many chickens there arc?” Can you help the merchant solve the puzzle ? Change the word “ BING ” to “ DOVE ” with four intervening words, altering one letter only at a time and making a correct dictionary word with each change.
