HOW TO USE HEN MANURE

Hen manure furnishes fertilising elements in concentrated form, and should be mixed with some less active material to increase its bulk before being stacked or used in the garden. For- either light or heavy soil, it may be mixed with wood ashes, using one to three parts of hen manure to one of ashes. For light, sandy soils that are poor, mix with tnree or four times as much loam or leaf mould. For heavy clay use a lighter soil medium in company with the hen manure. Ashes of any sort will help to break down the heavy material. Either mix may be used as a topdressing or be dug in around the plants. As a light scattering on its own account, fowl manure will not do much harm,;
