(Received December 24, at 10.10 a.m.) The State Statistician’s returns indicate an improToinent in business. In September and October the employees of forty-two largo factories increased in number by 5,000 to 141,000. The average of share prices on the Stock Exchange rose by 11 iper cent, in November compared with October. The average price per pound of paid-up capital for seventy-live listed shares was 17s 2d in November, compared with 15s 4d in October. In thirty-four active stocks the prices recovered 12 per cent, in November, reaching 22 per cent, liighcr than irt September. The wool, wheat, and latter production is approaching a record level. Rail and tram earnings largely increased.
