BEAUTIFUL ROMANCE OF SONG

JOHN M'CORMACK FILM RETURNING In ‘ Song o’ My Heart,’ his first audible picture for tho screen, John M'Cormack, tho world’s greatest lyric tenor, sings eleven songs, logically introduced in the action of the delightful lyrical romance, which will return to Dunedin to tho Empire Theatre on Boxing Day. Through the medium of Fox Movietone tho voice that has always been proclaimed great is considered to bo made greater. Of tho entire repertoire ‘ I Hear You Calling Mo,’ ‘ Rose of Tralee,’ and ‘ Little Boy Blue ’ are perhaps the most appreciated melodies. ‘ Little Boy Blue ’ is based on the poem by Eugene Field, and sot to music by Ethelbcrt Novin. In 1 Little Boy Blue ’ Frank Borzagc, who directed ‘ Song o’ My Heart,’ has deftly introduced a pictorial effect of a little boy, his dog, and his toy soldiers, giving an added human touch. ‘ 1 Hear You Calling Ale,’ which is so identified with the great tenor that he rarely fails to include it as an oncoro during his concert programmes, is a composition of Charles Alarshall, with lyrics by Harold Hartford. ‘ Rose of Tralee ’ is a Glover-Ditson effort. 1 Song o’ Aly Heart ’ is the storv of a broken romance which mars the'" life of John M'Cormack, a young and ambitions singer in Ireland. Tho girl (Alice Joyce) marries another, becomes the mother of a boy and girl, and is deserted by the husband. In after years AFCormack appears in concerts in America, is a success, and is booked from coast to coast; but on tho opening night of his concert tour he has a strange premonition that something is wrong across the seas. After tho concert ho learns that fiis former sweetheart died in Ireland approximately at the time a great audience was acclaimmg his singing of ‘ I Hear You Calling Ale.’ Ho abandons the concert tour, goes back to Ireland, and sees that the daughter of tho woman he had always loved is happily married to the 3 , 0 , "ig man of her choice.
