SPORTING
ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES. _ There was very little doing at EllersHe this morning, only the No. 5 grass track being available. The weather was fine, though dull. Rain is likely before the meeting. Silvermine and Awaken were given strong work, going the last six furlongs in Imin 25 4-ssec. Silvermine is in great condition and looks much improved. Green Linnet ran the last half-mile in 54 l-ssec very easily. Sunny Song was given an easy task over six furlongs in Imin 18 3-ssec, the last half-mile taking 52 3-sscc. This filly is standing up to her work in good style. Seatown worked over a couple of rounds, running the last half-mile in 56sec. The chestnut is exceptionally well and seldom worked freer. Avro was schooled over four hurdles and gave a good display. Goshawk jumped with plenty of confidence. Fiji and Cad land did pace work, and look in excellent fettle. —Auckland Press Association telegram.
