The Gracious Season
Some say that ever ’gainst that season comes Wherein our Saviour’s birth is celebrated, The bird of dawning singeth all night long. And then, they say, no spirit dares stir abroad; The nights are wholesome; then'no planets strike, No fairy takes, nor witch hath power to charm, So hallowed and so gracious is the time. Shakespeare.
“Sunshine on the Wall”
“ Still there’s sunshine on the wall.” If there lacked of wine or bread, 'lt was thus that Sancho shed Every care that might befall. Are you wiser, you who call Sancho fool ? • Could you have said: ” Still there’s sunshine on the wall,” If you lacked of wine or bread? Though your wisdom would appal Sancho Pauza’s clownish head, Wisest he who sang, instead, Of the cares that irk us all. ” Still there’s sunshine on the wall.” Dick Harris.
