The annual meeting of the Triumph Lodge, No. 9, was held on Thursday night in the Lodge Hall, -Kensington. W.M. Bro. W. E. O’Neill presided over a very large attendance. The lodge was opened with a full roll of officers. Correspondence was received from sister lodges conveying the season’s greetings. Sick claims were passed for payment, and lodge adjourned to January 14. The hall was then thrown open to the parents and children, there being 300 children and about 150 adults present. The Social Committee had worked hard during the afternoon, decorating the hall and placing the gifts on the Christmas tree. Each child received a gift, and the little folk were entertained with suitable games and musical items. Father Christmas arrived at 9 p.m. Special prizes were awarded during the evening to Miss Grey, Master Russell Devlin, Master E. Downs, and Master Ewart. Supper was provided for all by Chief Steward Bro. Hodges and his assistants. The W.M. (Bro. O’Neill) extended a hearty welcome to all on behalf of the lodge. The R.W.G. Master Bro. Andrew Devlin, on behalf of the Grand Lodge, thanked the lodge for its invitation to be present. He also thanked the W.M. for the very happy time one and all had spent, and called for three cheers for the members of No. 9.

The fortnightly meeting of the Valley True Blue Lodge, No. 11, was held !n the Orange Hall, Leith street. W.M. Bro. G. T. Austin presided l over a very large gathering of members, being assisted by W.P.M. Bro. Sutherland, W.P.M. Bro. Zimmerman (secretary), Bro. A. Hay (acting-treasurer), P.W.M. Bro. J. Harvey ( D.M. Bro. Barrett Elders, Bro. Groves, and Sister Turner, Guard Sister Gardiner and Keane. Nominations of officers for the incoming year were then taken, and it was decided to hold the installation of the new officers at the first meeting in the new year. The W.M. extended a hearty welcome to the visitor. W.P.M. Bro. Jackson and Bro. R. Bachop conveyed l fraternal greetings on behalf of their respective lodges.' The lodge then adjourned to spend a social hour, where supper was provided by P.M.S. Bro. Gilland and Drysdale, who were accorded a _ vote of thanks. The W.M., Bro. Austin, conveyed the season’s greeting to one and all. The annual meeting of the Loyal Excelsior Lodge, No. 41, was held in the lodge hall, Green Island. W.M. Bro. A. Lindsay presided over a good attendance of members, and was ably assisted by Chaplain Bro. H. A. Christie, P.M., and officers. The Grand Secretary, Bro. A. Hay, paid an official visit, and was welcomed to the meeting. The correspondence included invitations to attend special Christmas functions of sister lodges. The nominations of officers were then taken, the following being elected: —W.M., Bro. Jas. Lindsay; P.M., Bro. A. D. Lindsay; D.M., Bro. J. C. Lindsay; secretary, Bro. A. S. Murie; treasurer, Bro. T. Robson; chaplain, Bro. W. S. Watt; hon. chaplain, Rev. Bro. J. G. Dunn; S. elder, Bro. H. A. Christie; P.M. J. elder, Bro. C. F. Adams; guard, Bro. G. Davies; O. guard, Bro. J. M'lnnes. It was” decided to request the R.W. Grand Master and his officers to conduct the installation, and that the sister lodges be invited to attend. The Grand Secretary spoke on matters relating to the welfare of the society, and at the conclusion of his address he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The Press reporter was thanked for his services. The W.M. conveyed the season’s greetings to the members, which were reciprocated by the D.M. on behalf of the members.
