CHRISTMAS PARCELS

GIFTS OF R.S.A. Ex-servicemen who are not fortunately placed are not being forgotten by their comrades over the festive season, and on Thursday there will be a liberal distribution of parcels containing Christmas fare at the R.S.A. Club in Moray place. Tho single as well as tho family, man will participate in the gifts. The distribution of gifts to no fewer than 700 returned soldiers will take place between 9.30 and 4.30 on Thursday, and those who are to receive parcels are asked to come as_ early _as possible, as tho task of distribution will bo a heavy one for the workers engaged in this commendable effort. Those entitled to parcels have had tickets posted to them, and these must bo presented at the club. The following circular has been sent out to those concerned:—“ As you are no doubt aware, we have to deal with 700 returned soldiers who are in distress, but notwithstanding tho very limited amount of money at our disposal we ask you to partake of a small Christmas gift in tho form of food, including meat, bread, butter, tea, and jellies. Please bring a bag with you on Thursday, December 24, between the hours of 9.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. Tho distribution of gifts Avill ceaso at 4,30, at which hour the office will be closed. The ticket which is enclosed must be presented to receive your gift. This gift is made possible by the generosity of tho Perpetual Trustees, Estate, and Agency Company Ltd., administrators of the Grace Lilian Mitchell fund; the Otago Patriotic and General Welfare Association, and the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association (Inc.). They join in wishing our fel-low-Diggors . a merry Christmas and brighter prospects for the Now Year.”
