LOCK EXPERTS WHO ERRED
A prisoner who has earned £20,000 while in gaol is rather an unusual phenomenon, but this distinction belongs to Harold Marks, who was sentenced to imprisonment four and a-half years ago. While serving Ids time in San Quentin prison, in California, he invented a burglar-proof lock, which he was allowed to patent, with tho result that lie has now been credited with the sum of £20,000. There have been lock experts in prison in Britain at various times, but they never seem to have _ thought of employing their ingenuity in this way. Rather have they used them to defeat tho prison locks in attempts to escape.
