OBITUARY
SIGNOR SALANDRA FORMER ITALIAN MINISTER. LONDON, December 9. The deatli is announced of Signor ,Antonio Salandra, one of Italy’s war-time Premiers. [Antonio Salandra, who was a lawyer, was elected to .the Italian Parliament as a Conservative in 1886. He was Aliuister of Agriculture from 1899 to 1900, and of Finance from 1906 to 1910. In 1914 lie became Prime Alinister, and was at the head of the Government which placed Italy on the side of the Allies and entered the Great War in 1915. Criticised for lack of initiative and want of energy, he resigned in 1917. i e was one of Italy’s representatives at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. He wrote on legal and political subjects. He was seventy-eight years of age.]
