'DERELICT' FOR OCTAGON
VIVID MARINE MELODRAMA ' George Bancroft, who has few peers in virile portrayal, gives a dynamic performance in ‘ Derelict,’ the vivid marine melodrama to be shown at the Octagon Theatre for the first time tomorrow. He is splendid as a ruthless sea captain whoso merciless tyranny earns for him the hatred of all those who come under his command. His intense rivalry with a fellow captain who by an circumstance is ap- . pointed mate on his vessel culminates in a dramatic scene in mid-ocean when their common love for a beautiful woman bares their true natures. Jessie lloyce Landis acts well as the lieroine. As a spectacle ‘Derelict’ is reputed to surpass any previous production t since ‘ Old Ironsides, 5 regarded as the classic of this type of film. Tt shows a staunch ship _ ploughing blindly through an alraot impenetrable pall of - fog; a terrific storm typifying the capricious nature of tropical weather; and two ships crashing head-on in the ' blackness of a terrible night. In short. • ’ 1 Derelict 5 is something to thrill film- ■ goers. Three leading farceurs of the screen in the leading roles emphasise the comedy element of Clara Bow’s latest • Paramount fun hit. ‘Her Wedding Night,’ which will be the second, attraction. The trie/ of solemn funsters is • composed of Ralph Forbes, Charlie Buggies, and Sheets _ Gallagher. ■ i ‘Her Wedding Night’ is Forbes’s / first picture for Paramount since be acted in the memorable ‘Beau Geste.’ Sheets Gallagher, in ‘ Her Wedding Night,’ plays his second picture in succession opposite Miss Bow. Ho was recently seen with the “It” girl in Love Among the Millionaires.’
