J. A. Young) and to the Leader of the Opposition' (Mr H. E. Holland), the secretary of the moyement has received the following from the Minister:—“ln reply to telegram, regarding position of unemployed in Dunedin, I am taking steps to inquire into position as represented.” The telegram sent from Dunedin read as follows:—“The Unemployed Workers’ Movement wishes emphatically to protest against the evictions and' the starvation of the unemployed which are taking place in Dunedin at the present: time. Government action imperative. All food depots closed. Hospital Board refuses relief.” _ A GENEROUS ACTION The Star Stores, in association with Oswald M. Smith and Co. “Ltd. and Hatton’s Confectionery Co. Ltd., have sent free orders to 250 unemployed in the city and suburbs for 8s worth each of groceries. The goods will be obtainable at any Star Stores premises on December 19. _ Thus 250 distressed breadwinners will have something to brighten their Christmas.
