MR R. S BLACK WITHDRAWS

STRAIGHT-OUT FIGHT IN DUNEDIN NORTH This morning Mr R. S. Black, one of the three nominated candidates for the Dunedin North seat, received a deputation from a number of citizens representing Coalition. It was brought to the notice of Mr Black that Coalition was running a risk of the splitting' of the anti-Socialistio vote, and that, desirous as many electors were that he should continue in the election they felt that a big thing could be accomplished if he could see his way to withdraw, and thus reduce the danger to the lowest common denomination. . Mr Black, in reply, said he felt that ho could win the seat, but that he was prepared in every case to put community interest and dominion interest first, therefore he acceded to the request of the deputation, so as to enable a. straightout fight.
