Sir, —In retiring from the contest for the Dunedin North seat I would like to express my gratitude to my very many close friends and ardent supporters for tho tremendous work they have put in on my behalf at great personal sacrifice to themselves, and to assure them that 1 appreciate how disappointed they will be over ray retirement.
