A message from Boston that Warrant Boatswain Jester, testifying before tho coastguard hearing, denied the charges that his patrol boat deliberately sank tho rum runner Sophie E. 1 Attorney Matthew M'Grath, who was retained by tho British Consulate for the Sophie’s crew, asked that ho be allowed a transcript of all testimony at the hearing. When this was refused lie asserted that the hearing would bo ■“ whitewashed.” Ho said ho would not permit any of the crow to testify and would appeal to the British Embassy at Washington. He would also file a suit for damages against Jester in the civil courts.
