DISARMAMENT
THE GENEVA CONFERENCE MR HENDERSON’S POSITION (British Official Wireless.) Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, November 4. Referring to the one-year armament truce, ‘ The Times ’ says it thinks it will serve a useful purpose in creating mutual confidence, without which it would be impossible to dear the ground before the Disarmament Conference opens in three months’ time. Regarding tho chairmanship of the conference, ‘ The Times ’ remarks: “ Mr Henderson was elected to that post by the League Council in his personal capacity after several other names had been put forward and discarded, and awkward problems of personal and national predilections and antipathies will be reopened if he now renounces tho position, nor does there seem to be any valid reason why he should, for the appointment was made on account of his merits as a chairman and his zeal in the cause of disarmament.”
