SOME STATISTICS EXPENDITURE BY BOARD i [From Oub Pabuamemtab? Eeportre.] WELLINGTON, November 5. ■ Details of unemployment expenditure were set out in a return tabled by the Eight. Hon. J. G. Coates to-night. The amount spent from the establishment of the board to August 1 last was £771,292. The amount paid by the board to local bodies was £680,797, and to farmers, as a subsidy on labour supplied, £23,538. The cost of the board was £5,768 (administration expenses) and £2,646 (expenses of members).. The total expenditure, including government subsidy, was £779,706. REGISTRATIONS [Per United Press Association.] ' WELLINGTON, November 5. The total number of unemployed, registered for the week ended Novem-' ber 2 was 60,284, compared with 50,266 a week earlier, an increase of ■lB. According to a return issued by the Minister in Charge of Unemployment (the Right Hon. J. G. Coates) the number of those who are employed part time under the_ Unemployment Board’s relief schemes is 36,758, an increase of 334 over the previous week.The net number registered and unplaced is 13,526, a decrease of 816 fos the week. CHRISTMAS PUDDINGS WANTED The mayor stated this morning thaS after the cessation of the pound-a-week scheme and the closing down of the relief depots at the end of this month work will be concentrated on the gathering of toys and hooks as a Christmas treat "for the children who would not otherwise experience the usual joys, of the festive season. Christmas puddings are also wanted for inclusion in Christmas parcels, and these may be left at the relief depot iu St. Andrew street till the end of the month, and after that at the Town Hall. It is suggested that people might make the puddings , now and send them in before the busy rush near Christmas.
