MEETING CHATHAM WINS LINLITHGOW STAKES _j OAKS TO GALLANTIC. MELBOURNE, November 5. The weather was warm, and there was a large attendance at the third day of the Victoria Racing Club’s Spring Meeting. Ocean Bound was third early in the Hurdles, but eventually won easily. He is trained by the veteran Dan Coleman, and is owned in Sydney. Dark Chief led all the wav in the Moore Stakes, and beat Sanballat comfortably. Chatham also had a comfortable win in the Linlithgow; Stakes. His trainer (Ike Foulsham) won the race with lolaire in 1906, and Lis jockey (W. Cook) won the previous race on Dark Chief. Mulcra was .vigorously ridden by the veteran Bob Lewis, and won the Carnival Handicap in,the last stride. Gallnntic was last early in the Oaks, but ran right away at the finish. His rider (F. Dempsey) won the race previously on Frances Tressary, Ninbela, and Miss Disraeli. Kidaides was last early in the Veteran Stakes, but finished brilliantly. Johnny Leckio did not receive a penny as the result of his title contest against Donovan at New Plymouth last Saturday, in which the former regained the championship.
