[Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, November 6. Conditions were perfect for training at Riccarton this morning. V.R.C. MEETING. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, June 6. (Received June 6, at 2 p.m.) The acceptors for the Batman Stakes include Oratorian, Chatham, and Dermid. Phar Lap will nm in the Fisher Plate, and will go for a spell on Monday. ■ JOHNNY LECKIE’S TITLE BOUT. In reply to the protest from the Napier Boxing Association that Johnny Leckie received nothing from his title bout with Donovan, expenses totalling £9 had been given him, and it had been, agreed among the members, though nob confirmed by the meeting, that a bonus of £SO was to be presented to the two contestants. The agreement signed by the parties stipulated 75 per cent, net receipts to the boxers. The receipts totalled £126 and the expenses £l3O, so actually nothing was left for division. The assertion by the Napier secretary that there is another ruling governing percentage bouts is refuted. The only rule is that concerning specifically championship bouts, such as the one in dispute, which states that the net purse is £SO. The local association automatically complied with this rule when deciding on the bonus. Leekio will probably receive £3O as his share. That, the receipts did not amount to more was not the fault of the association nor the boxers, but was a sign of the times.—New Plymouth Press Association telegram. Johnny Leckie and. Harry Johns have been matched by the Northern Association for the dominion light-weight title on November 16. —Auckland correspondent.
