PORT CHALMERS TRAINS.
TO TBM SUITOR. Sir, —Periodically, the Port Chalmers railway time-tablo gets a shuffle up to the extent of a minute or so. For instance, the 4.55 p.m. which used to bo 4.5 G p.m. Many users of this train who have to come long distances, barely have time to catch it now. One can see for one’s self by the number of passengers on the platform when the train should have started that the time is not suitable. Many would miss it but for the guard’s sympathy. What is very noticeable is how the department juggles with the time-tab o when the people ask tor •• better service hut when asked to put on an extra stop or two I'or tho convenience of the workers, there is nothing doing. The losses of tho road buses are nothinc when wo consider the good service they render in blocking the people from private enterprise, Which would never ho if the trains .wore made to suit people.—l am, etc., Cater For The People.
