ELECTION CANDIDATES
About fifty delegates, representative of the whole of the Clutha electorate, waited upon Mr Peter M'Skimming, of Benhar, at Balclutha on Tuesday night and urged him to consent to nomination as a candidate for the Clutha seat at the general election. Mr M'Skimrairig promised to give the matter his serious consideration, and yesterday ,be advised his supporters that it was his definite intention to stand as an Independent Coalitionist. A meeting of the District Committee of Reform supporters set up to work in the interests of Mr Charles Todd's candidature for the Central Otago, seat was held at Queenstown during the week. It was unanimously decided to accept and support the Coalition Party’s nominee, Mr W. A. Bodkin, the sitting member,_at the forthcoming election. A resolution to disband, was also passed, as there will bo no further use for the Reform Committee’s offices. Mr R. Glover Clark, the Reform candidate against Mr A. J. Stallworthy in Eden, has decided, at the request ,of his supporters, not to withdraw, but to stand as an Independent ReforinCoalitionist. Mr W. J, Holdsworth is standing as an Independent Reform candidate fin the Roskill electorate. . For personal reasons Mr James Taylor has definitely decided not to contest Dunedin North.
