BOY’S MILE, RECORD i [Pert United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, November 4. A Technical School boy, C. H. Mathews, aged seventeen, at a combined secondary school sports meeting to-day ran a mile in 4min 31 l-ssec. The previous school record in Christchurch was A miu 46sec, and the best previously recorded time for a milo at a school sports is 4min 31 4-ssec, made in‘England in 1929. Mathews ran the last three laps alone, and won by 150yds.
