RUAPEHU SKMKG CLUB [Pek United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 20. Tho Ruapehu Ski-ing Club's annual winter sports were held at Tonganro National Park to-day. The conditions were excellent, and there were 250 spectators. Results; — Men’s Langlauf or Cross-country Race, about 7 miles.—Rod Symo (Haworn) 1, R. C. M.urio (Wellington) 2, R. Allen (New Plymouth) J. Won oy 25yds. Thcro were ton starters. New Zealand Amateur Langlauf Championship Race. About 7 miles.— Rod Syme (Ruapehu Ski C)nb) 1, R. C. Murio (Ruapehu Ski Club) 2, Rigby Allan (Ruapehu Ski Club) J. Won by ssce. Also competed (in order of finishing) : F._ Ji. R. Merritt (Auckland University Field and Alpine Club), J. M'Commish (Ruapehu Ski Club), A. D. Priestlv (Victoria University 'Tramping Chib), T. R. Marks (Ruapehu Ski Club). J. A. VVcils (Tararua Tramping Club), R. F. Whitwell (Ruapehu Ski Chib), R. Hogg (Victoria University College Tramping Chib), C. F. Taylor (Bnapehu Ski Club), J. W. Palmer (Ruapehu Ski Club), R. Grant (Victoria University College Tramping Club), W. Groomhridgo (Ruapehu Ski Club), and R. L. Powell (Hntt Valley Tramping Club). Taylor set out at a fast pace, and easily led tho field for tho first up-hill portion, and round iho flat for tho long run down to tho Scoria Flat. Svmc followed and the remainder were well strung out. Symo Taylor. and Murio passed both Taylor and Syme, and was still in tho lead at tho beginning of tho last long uphill portion. Symo, climbing well, passed Murio on the up-hill section, and got to the top of the Inst run down about 15yds in tlie lead, with Allan some distance behind, followed by Merritt and M’Connnish. Fighting hard for first place, Syme won a very closelv-contestcd rare by tho narrow margin of ssec, with the third competitor lOsoc later.
