MISSING STUDENTS SAFE
A CLOSE CALL [Pen United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 5. It was reported to tho police to-day that tho missing Training College students, Murray A. Fustier (aged twentyone) and John M'Cormack (aged twenty), and a girl friend (Miss Joyce Hewitt), had returned to Auckland this afternoon, to toll an exciting story of how thev wore wrecked in a tiny boat off Rangitoto Island early this morning. After attending a lecture at Auckland University College last evening tho two students decided to go to Judge’s Bay to try out their craft, whidi they had recently put in order. They took with them Miss Hewitt, who had promised to help to mend the sail. W.ien they had finished the work on their ISft open boat they decided to sail her round from Judge's Bay to Mechanics Bay boat harbour. Once out of tho bay they found such a heavy sea running that they could not got back, and they wore swept down tho harbour. The tiny craft was tossed about until it was off Rangitoto Island, and in a particularly bad squall about I.JO this morning it capsized. Roth students and Miss Hewitt, after swimming for some distance, managed to scramble ashore.
