ALFONSO IN EXILE
QUEEN ENA AND THE FLIGHT MADRID, July 21. An interesting description ol the private life of ex-King Alfonso and his family is published in LI Socialiata.' According to a statement attributed to an official who occupied a high position in the Royal Palace and who has just returned from Fontaiuebleaj, Don Alfonso has bcconio very reserved and 'fjuiet during the last few weeks Absorbed in his own thoughts, his sole interest seems to centre in the Spanish situation. He lives a retired life and takes no active part in the politics of Spain. A great change, the official says, has come over the Queen. She is much thinner and repeats again and again that they ought never to have left Madrid They take no part m amusements and their company is restricted to two or three aristocrats who have followed them in their exile. The princesses have lost their bright looks and speak constantly of Madrid, their friends, and the joyous atmosphere of Spain.
