Dr K. R. Steeuson, who graduated iit Otago, and has been for three years medical officer in the British Solomon Islands, has spent a week of his three months’ leave in Dunedin, and left this morning to take up his duties as medical officer in the Gilbert Islands, having been appointed thereto by the Colonial Medical Service. Mr and Mrs W. D. Hunt entrained for Wellington by the express to-day. Mr and Mrs'H. K. Wilkinson left this morning for a visit to the Islands, and expect to return in about five weeks. Mr F. Knight, chief clerk in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington, has been visiting his parents in Dunedin, and left by this morning’s train. Mr A. O. Heany, who was formerly on the literary staff of the / Dominion,’ has been appointed organising secretary of the Associated Chambers of Commerce. He commenced his new duties yesterday. Visitors to the Excelsior Hotel include Mr C. Verran (Auckland), Messrs F, J. Lush and C. Irons (Wellington), Mr A. Taine (Marlborough), Mr W. H. Batchelor (Hawera), Mr A., Richards (Timaru), and Mr D. Windle (Gore). Guests at the City Hotel include Mr S. B. Hayward (Auckland). Messrs Stevens and D. Miller (Christchurch), Messrs F. Wallis and J. Pillar (Gore), Mr and Mrs E. A. Longuet, and Messrs L. B. Hutton, N. J. Ward, and W. J. Harris (Invercargill).
