MEAT BOARD CONSTITUTION

SUPPORT FOR MR LYSNAR’S BILL

[From Our Parliamentary Reporter.]

WELLINGTON, August 3. The Meat Export Control Amendment Bill, introduced by Mr Lysnar, which has taken up so much of tho time of the House recently, is to be again considered at Tuesday’s sitting. Thoro is an amendment to tho motion for tho second reading moved by Mr A. Hamilton (Wallace) that the Bill bo read six months hence, while a more friendly amendment is that of Mr Rushworth (Bay of Islands) for tho second reading on August 12. A closure motion was defeated last week owing to tho fact that Labour members oppose tho closure on principle. They are, however, substantially in favour of tho measure, which seeks a change in tho method of appointment and in the constitution of the Meat Export Control Board, and it is regarded as a certainty that Mr Lysnar’s Bill will command a good majority for tho second reading.
