FIRE AT RAVENSBOURNE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In your column to-night is a paragraph relating to an outhouse being destroyed by fire at Ravensbourne. With all respect and gratitude to the Volunteer Brigade in the borough, I feel that the workers from the fertiliser works should not be overlooked, as they wei’o mainly responsible for the wonderful save. A house adjoining my place, and only a yard from the burning shed, was alight, but they succeeded in subduing the outbreak. When one considers the strength of the wind at the time it can be realised how hard they worked. «■My thanks have been conveyed to the manager of the works for his action in sending help so quickly. I would also sincerely thank other helpers, unknown to me, who came to assist. Had it not been for willing workers three houses ahlaze_ would have given the; brigade a formidable task.—l am, etc., Grateful Tekaxt. July 23.
